The fixing of vapour retardant membrane foil in the construction market is usually done by stapling or nailing. The disadvantage of this way of fixing is that the vapour prevention may be compromised as the foil/membrane can be pierced by the staples or nails.

Until recently it was not possible to fix the foil by means of gluing, as they are made from DPC, PE and EPDM, to which most adhesives and caulks cannot adhere.

Den Braven Sealants has succeeded with the introduction of the new Zwaluw Foliefix Spur, which can achieve adhesion of vapour retardant foils and membranes. Zwaluw Foliefix Spur is a unique caulk, which has been specially developed to fix the vapour preventing foil in the construction sector on all kinds of substrates. The most important factor when fixing the foil with adhesive, instead of the traditional way of nailing or stapling is that a 100% vapour prevention can be achieved. Compared to the mechanical fixing, gluing also gives the advantage that the adhesion is much more durable because the fixing surface is much larger and the risk of tearing is greatly reduced. The application of this adhesive is very simple; the adhesive is applied one-sided only, the membrane foil is not put into situ for several minutes, this will then achieve a much faster cure.

This product is free from solvents and is available in 310ml cartridges. The product is light green in colour. On request other colours and packages are possible for large volumes.
